This installation is intended to remind us of 30 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall
The installation “Visions in Motion” by the artist Patrick Shearn is part of the Berlin anniversary week and is intended to commemorate both the fall of the Berlin Wall and the peaceful revolution of 1989. The American had a large “Skynet” stretched in front of the Brandenburg Gate on Strasse des 17. Juni, a 137-meter-long network made up of more than 100,000 narrow strips. Canvas was chosen as the material, which reflects the light through its surface coating and thus has an even more organic effect. Around a third of the colorful ribbons were printed with short messages dealing with reunification. The lines were collected in the run-up to Kulturprojekte Berlin as part of a month-long campaign at events, at memorials and on the street.
Patrick Shearn’s work, who for “Visions in Motion” is inspired by the swarming behavior of fish and birds, can be seen in Berlin until November 10th.
