On Tuesday afternoon, however, many people were drawn to the Brandenburg Gate. Most of them went to the open-air exhibition first. The historical events are explained on several boards with photos, short texts and audio statements from contemporary witnesses. The installation “Visions in Motion” by the US artist Patrick Shearn is a particular eye-catcher. A total of 120,000 colorful ribbons were knotted together to form a 150-meter-long carpet that was stretched across the Strasse des 17. Juni in front of the Brandenburg Gate.
“That’s crazy”, says Friedemann Korflür and immediately reaches for his reflex camera when he sees the installation blowing in the wind for the first time.
