Creativity In Motion: The Making of Poetic Kinetic’s Coachella Snail
If you were one of the lucky ones who was in attendance at Coachella 2013, then undoubtedly you got to experience the amazing Helix Poeticus AKA Coachella Snail. With Coachella 2014 just around the corner- literally this weekend- we can’t wait to see what the makers of Helix Poeticus, Poetic Kinetics, will be bringing this year. The creative team, co-founded by Patrick Shearn and Cynthia Washburn, is based in LA, but they have brought their large scale kinetic sculptures to festivals all over the US and even to Beijing for the Olympic Games in 2008. The Coachella Snail arrived last year completely bare, but with the help of graffiti duo Herakut, Helix Poeticus got styled for the event with designs and the memorable quote, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
In the video below, Poetic Kinetics offers a sneak peek into the making of the Coachella Snail and leaves us anxiously awaiting the revelation of their latest project. See more amazing projects by Poetic Kinetics on their website. You can also follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
